FAQ’s:

1) Who has to come? All clergy, provisional and full connection, (Elders, Deacons, Licensed Local Pastors and Retired Clergy) currently under appointment or anticipating an appointment. In addition, Conference Program Staff (Laity) are invited.

2) What if I’m from another Area or Jurisdiction and serving in Michigan? Yes, you are expected to attend if you are serving an appointment in Michigan.

3) What about clergy in Extension Ministry appointments? All clergy are expected for mandatory training. If clergy are serving an appointment out-of-state, they may receive their training in the Jurisdiction where they live, but our conferences (their home conference) will need dated documentation of training within the last year for their file.

4) What happens if I have a conflict and cannot attend this training? All clergy must attend Sexual Ethics Training to be eligible for appointment. If a life-event prevents attendance, the clergy person should contact Dr. Dobbs in Bishop Keaton’s office as soon as possible.

Free Marriage Encounter Weekend

Pastors and spouses in the North Central Jurisdiction are being invited to participate in a special Marriage Encounter Weekend on Thursday-Saturday, April 11-13, 2012, in the Chicago area. The weekend, which is normally $200 per couple, is bring provided free for pastors and spouses in Michigan by a Marriage Encounter "angel."

A Marriage Encounter is a weekend away from home, family and responsibilities where in a comfortable, secluded environment a couple is guided in the discovery of new techniques of communicating and sharing with one another. It is not a retreat, but it is a program designed to give couples the opportunity to examine their lives together, their weaknesses and strong points, their attitudes toward each other and toward their families. Couples are given the opportunity to look at themselves, privately with their partner in an honest, face-to-face, heart-to-heart encounter.
