Local Church News
Church Dashboard

In 2010, the Detroit Conference developed and launched the Church Dashboard, an online tool for local churches that allows a church to update the conference database and website with its information, as well as the information for its leaders.

Having current information on these leaders in the conference database allows the conference, its agencies, and districts to contact leaders directly with any resources and information that would enhance and support their ministry in your church.

As we begin 2012, the DAC Communications Team are contacting all local churches with their Dashboard information with the goal that all churches will begin using this tool on a regular basis to aide the conference and its districts in keeping the most updated information as possible. Having the most up-to-date information on churches and their leaders assists the conference and its districts to keep the database and website as current as possible as we utilize those tools to equip and connect local churches for ministry.

The Dashboard is an easy-to-use tool and a manual is available to assist users. The manual can be viewed and/or downloaded. Please review the manual before entering leader information into the Dashboard.

Each church received an e-mail with a link to the church’s Dashboard username and password. Please use this information when logging into the Church Dashboard. You may change your username and password in the Dashboard if you wish.

All churches are asked to update their information and leaders in the Church Dashboard by Friday, January 20. This deadline is important because all churches must submit their lay members to the 2012 annual conference session in a timely manner to make sure the registration process runs smoothly.

While we would like every church to enter all of its leaders, we do ask each church, at a minimum, to enter the following leaders and their information into the Dashboard:

• Lay Leader

• Lay Member(s) to the 2012 Annual Conference Session

• Administrative Board/Church Council chairperson

• Pastor-Parish/Staff-Parish Relations Committee chairperson

• Board of Trustees chairperson

• Church Treasurer

• Church Secretary

• United Methodist Women president (if applicable)

• United Methodist Men president (if applicable)

• United Methodist Youth Fellowship president (if applicable)

The Church Dashboard is also a place for local churches to submit events and classifieds for display on the conference website. These events and classifieds are viewable to the entire conference through the conference’s calendar  and classifieds pages and may be promoted through the Detroit Conference Connection, the conference’s weekly e-newsletter.

Each local church also has a web page on the conference website and this information is made up from data entered into the Church Dashboard. These local church webpages are also accessible on the conference’s mobile site, which utilizes smartphone technology in locating nearby United Methodist churches. Information is also used to populate the local church map section of the conference website.

Having current information on our local churches and their leaders is essential as we engage in the ministry of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world by equipping and connecting our local churches for ministry.

Thank you in advance for your fulfillment of this request and for updating your information through the Church Dashboard by Friday, January 20. If you have any questions about the Church Dashboard, please feel free to contact Jessica Browning in the Detroit Conference office or Paul Thomas, conference director of communications.
