“Combating Diseases of Poverty by Improving Health” is the theme for Bishop’s Day 2012, Saturday, March 17 is the day and Ishpeming Wesley UMC is the place for this Marquette District event. The day will include workshops, opportunities for worship and fellowship, and lunch. Michaela Barnhart will be the keynote speaker.
Keynote Speaker
Michaela Barnhart is a senior at Escanaba High School and is the Vice President of the Detroit Annual Conference Council on Youth Ministry (CCYM). Her home church is Escanaba Central UMC where she is the church's lay speaker with experience doing both the liturgy and sermon. “SPLASH” (Saving People's Lives And Spreading Hope) has the goal of doing just that. CCYM has taken on this God-sized dream by creating the SPLASH organization. The goal is to raise $500,000 for clean water around the world.
